Erlenmeyer Flask with Screw Cap and Baffles – Optimal Combination for Shaking Cultures
These Erlenmeyer flasks combine the advantages of a secure screw closure with the mixing-enhancing properties of baffles. The GL thread with high-quality PBT screw cap and PTFE-coated seal enables a tight, reusable closure, while the integrated baffles ensure optimal aeration and mixing in shaking cultures.
Technical Features:
- Material: Borosilicate glass 3.3 according to DIN ISO 3585
- Screw thread: GL 25, GL 32, or GL 45 (depending on volume)
- Screw cap: PBT with PTFE-coated seal
- Temperature resistance of cap: up to +200 °C
- With 3 or 4 baffles (depending on volume)
- Conical shape for optimal aeration
- Autoclavable
- High chemical and thermal resistance
- Graduation for volume orientation
Advantages of the Combination:
- Tight closure: Prevents contamination and evaporation during incubation and storage
- Optimal mixing: Baffles improve oxygen transfer and culture homogeneity
- Reusable: Robust screw cap for multiple sterilization cycles
- Safe: Reinforced beaded rim increases mechanical stability
Important Handling Note:
During autoclaving, the screw cap must only be placed loosely on top and must not be fully tightened to allow pressure equalization and prevent glass breakage.
Application Areas:
- Shaking cultures (bacteria, yeast, fungi, cell lines)
- Fermentation and bioreaction
- Cell culture and microbiology
- Enzyme and protein production
- Long-term incubation
- Sample transport and storage
The Erlenmeyer flasks are available in various nominal volumes from 50 ml to 5000 ml. Smaller volumes feature 3 baffles, larger volumes (from 2000 ml) have 4 baffles for even more effective mixing.
