Cold Trap 2-piece with KF Flange

The 2-piece cold trap made of high-quality borosilicate glass is an essential element in vacuum systems and serves to protect vacuum pumps from solvent vapors, moisture, and other condensing substances. Due to its efficient design, vapors reliably condense in the cooled area and are thus removed from the gas stream.

The cold trap consists of two parts: a lower part with KF flange and an upper part with KF flange. This construction enables easy assembly and disassembly as well as uncomplicated cleaning. The borosilicate glass used is characterized by excellent chemical resistance and high thermal shock resistance, which ensures safe operation even at low temperatures.

The cold traps are available in various volumes and can be equipped with different KF flange sizes depending on requirements. They are ideal for rotary evaporators, vacuum drying systems, freeze dryers, and other vacuum applications in the laboratory.

Operation Principle

The cold trap is connected between the vacuum pump and experimental setup and cooled with a cooling medium (e.g., dry ice, liquid nitrogen, or cooling mixture). Vapors from the process condense on the cold glass walls and collect in the lower part of the trap, preventing them from entering the pump. This significantly extends the service life of the vacuum pump and prevents contamination of the pump oil.
